Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) subsystem. This vulnerability arises when graphics buffer objects are deallocated prematurely while the DRM structure remains active. This can lead to a null pointer dereference when the system attempts to access these freed resources. A local attacker could exploit this to cause a system crash, resulting in a denial of service.
Statement
This issue affects Intel Xe virtual-function (VF) configurations using CCS read/write buffers. Buffer objects may be destroyed after device unbind while DRM structures remain valid, leading to a NULL pointer dereference in CCS buffer address updates. Systems not using Intel Xe VF graphics are not affected.
