Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's InfiniBand (IB) Management Datagram (mad) component. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending unsolicited Reliable Multicast Packet Protocol (RMPP) responses. This could lead to the kernel allocating or extending RMPP receive state for these unmatched responses, potentially causing resource exhaustion and a denial of service.
Statement
This issue affects InfiniBand RMPP in the MAD layer. Unmatched RMPP responses start reassembly before matching to an outstanding send, allowing remote injection of reassembly state. Systems without InfiniBand/RDMA are not affected.
