Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's drm/amd/display component. This vulnerability occurs when the struct dc data structure, which is used for display management, grows beyond a certain memory allocation limit. When this limit is exceeded, the system fails to allocate the necessary memory, leading to the display becoming unusable and the graphics processing unit (GPU) initialization failing. This can result in a denial of service, preventing the system from properly utilizing the display.

Statement

This issue affects systems using the AMDGPU display stack (drm/amd/display). struct dc has grown large enough that kzalloc() may request contiguous allocations above the page allocator limit, causing display initialization to fail on some compiler/config combinations. Systems without AMD GPUs are not affected.
