Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's power management domain (pmdomain) component, specifically impacting the i.MX8MP VC8000E. A timing issue during the power up and down cycling of the VC8000E/VPUMIX can cause the VPU_NOC power down handshake to hang. This can lead to system instability and a denial of service.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as having a Low impact because exploitation is restricted to specialized NXP i.MX8MP SoC hardware and only results in a local denial of service without compromising system confidentiality or integrity. Typical Red Hat Enterprise Linux server and virtualized environments do not run on this hardware platform and remain unaffected. On supported embedded installations using this processor family, triggering the flaw requires local privileges to initiate video processing power-cycling events that induce the hardware handshake hang.
