Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Elastic Network Adapter (ENA) driver. During the setup of eXpress Data Path (XDP) transmit (TX) queues, if the subsequent setup of regular TX queues fails, the error handling mechanism does not properly clean up the XDP TX queues. This oversight can lead to a resource leak, potentially resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) condition.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having a Low impact for Red Hat Enterprise Linux because it involves a kernel resource leak restricted to an abnormal error path during network queue setup. The issue specifically affects the Amazon Web Services Elastic Network Adapter (ENA) driver, which is only utilized on virtual machine instances running on AWS with ENA hardware. Because entering the faulty cleanup sequence requires specific queue allocation failures during privileged interface reconfiguration or XDP configuration, unprivileged local users cannot directly exploit this condition to cause significant denial of service.
