Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's scsi: xen: scsiback component. This vulnerability allows a malicious virtualized SCSI (pvSCSI) guest to trigger a reference count underflow by sending specially crafted requests. This can lead to a denial of service, potentially stopping a Logical Unit Number (LUN) session or causing the host system to crash.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having Moderate impact because exploitation is restricted to an authenticated local guest and results in a host denial of service without compromising data confidentiality or integrity. Red Hat Enterprise Linux does not enable or support Xen paravirtualized SCSI backend drivers by default, substantially limiting exposure across standard enterprise installations. The issue only manifests in specialized host environments where storage is actively exported to untrusted virtual machines via the Xen backend driver.
