Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's dm-integrity component. This issue occurs when the dm_integrity_check_limits function fails, leading to a resource remaining locked. A local attacker could potentially trigger this condition, resulting in a system deadlock and a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having Low impact for Red Hat because triggering the resource lock-up requires administrative privileges or specific block device permissions to configure and issue requests to a dm-integrity volume. In standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments, dm-integrity targets are not configured by default, restricting potential exposure to specialized storage setups. Consequently, unprivileged local users cannot directly initiate malformed block I/O requests to induce a kernel deadlock.
