Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's device-mapper pcache target. A local user could trigger a system crash by providing a malformed table to the pcache target. This occurs because the system attempts to process an option without a value, leading to a critical error. The primary impact is a Denial of Service (DoS), which could make the system unavailable.
Statement
This vulnerability is evaluated as having a Low severity impact because triggering the condition requires local privileges to load device-mapper tables and is restricted to denial of service without compromising confidentiality or integrity. Furthermore, the dm-pcache device-mapper target is absent from supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux kernels. Consequently, Red Hat enterprise products do not contain the vulnerable code and are not affected.
