Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's bitland-mifs-wmi driver. During suspend and resume operations, an uninitialized pointer can be passed to a function, leading to a NULL pointer dereference. This can cause a kernel crash, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) by halting the system's suspend sequence.
Statement
This flaw is assessed with a Moderate severity rating because potential exploitation is limited to a denial of service occurring locally during system sleep transitions on specific hardware platforms, with no risk to data integrity or confidentiality. Supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases are not affected by this vulnerability, as the driver is not present in shipped kernel builds.
CVSS score applicability
