Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's marvell/octeontx cryptographic driver. This issue occurs during Direct Memory Access (DMA) cleanup, where an incorrect loop index is used. This can lead to memory leaks by failing to unmap successfully mapped entries and repeatedly attempting to unmap already failed ones, potentially causing system instability or a denial of service.
Statement
Red Hat has evaluated this vulnerability as having a Moderate impact because exploitation requires local access on systems equipped with specialized Marvell OCTEON TX cryptographic hardware, restricting the blast radius to kernel memory exhaustion and denial of service. Furthermore, supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases are not affected as the vulnerable driver code is not present in shipped kernel builds.
