Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's ASoC AMD ACP SoundWire (SDW) legacy driver. The create_sdw_dailinks function incorrectly iterates over an array, causing it to read beyond its allocated memory boundary. This out-of-bounds read can lead to memory corruption, potentially impacting system stability.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact for Red Hat Enterprise Linux because exploitation requires local access and specialized AMD SoundWire audio hardware, limiting the blast radius primarily to denial of service through kernel crashes. Typical enterprise server environments do not use or initialize these client sound devices, significantly reducing exposure. Under standard configurations without the requisite hardware present, the vulnerable driver code path is not invoked.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
