Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's sched_ext component. A race condition can occur during the disabling of a sub-scheduler that was never properly linked into the scheduler hierarchy. This can lead to a use-after-free vulnerability, where exited tasks are re-homed onto a dying hierarchy. This issue could potentially result in system instability or denial of service.
Statement
Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Moderate impact because exploitation requires local system access and is restricted to causing a denial of service through memory corruption. Furthermore, the affected extensible scheduling functionality is not present in Red Hat Enterprise Linux kernel releases, preventing impact on default enterprise configurations.
