Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's psxpad-spi driver. This vulnerability occurs because the psxpad_spi_suspend() function attempts to access controller state before it has been properly initialized, leading to a null pointer dereference. A local attacker could exploit this to cause a system crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is evaluated as a Moderate impact because exploitation requires local access and is limited to causing a denial of service through an unhandled system crash. In standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments, the psxpad-spi joystick driver is not enabled or compiled into shipping kernels, eliminating exposure on supported configurations.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
