Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's SELinux subsystem. An attacker with local access could exploit this by providing a specially crafted SELinux policy. This policy, containing an incorrect number of defined boolean values, would cause the kernel to attempt to access an invalid memory location. Such an action results in a system crash, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is classified with a Low severity because exploiting it requires privileged access, specifically root privileges or the CAP_MAC_ADMIN capability, to load policy binary data into the kernel. Standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux installations ship fully defined, conforming policy packages that do not encounter this condition under normal system operations. Consequently, an unprivileged local user cannot trigger the null dereference or cause a denial of service without having already compromised administrative credentials.
