Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's amdgpu graphics driver. When a MODE1 reset occurs, the Kernel Interface Queue (KIQ) ring fences are not properly completed. This can cause the system to continuously poll for a fence value that is never written back, leading to a denial of service where the first KIQ submission becomes unresponsive.
Statement
Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Low severity because it requires local access on systems configured with specific AMD graphics hardware and only triggers during GPU reset recovery operations. In typical enterprise server deployments lacking discrete AMD graphics adapters, systems are not exposed to this issue. Even where affected hardware is present, the failure to synchronize ring fences during an ASIC recovery sequence leads solely to a localized driver hang, with no opportunity for unauthorized privilege escalation or data exposure.
