Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's drm/amd/display component. This vulnerability occurs when the __is_lut_linear() function processes a Look-Up Table (LUT) with a single entry, triggering a division-by-zero error. This error causes the kernel to crash, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) for the system. A local attacker could potentially exploit this vulnerability.
Statement
Moderate impact has been assigned to this vulnerability because exploitation is limited to a local Denial of Service (system crash) and requires specific hardware configurations. The flaw is confined to environments utilizing AMD graphics processing units managed by the amdgpu kernel driver, leaving headless server installations and systems using alternative display adapters unaffected. Furthermore, triggering the condition requires local user privileges to interact with DRM display color properties, with no possibility of privilege escalation or data disclosure.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
