Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's powerpc/syscall component. This vulnerability occurs when the system_call_exception() function incorrectly handles a sentinel value during syscall processing, particularly when security mechanisms like seccomp or ptrace intercept a syscall. This can lead to an injected return value being silently discarded or an error number being overwritten. Consequently, security policies enforced by seccomp or ptrace might be bypassed, potentially allowing a local attacker to achieve unintended system behavior or bypass security restrictions.
