Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's graphics processing unit (GPU) host1x debug output. This vulnerability, a type of memory corruption, could allow a local attacker with access to debug files to read beyond the allocated memory buffer. This could potentially lead to information disclosure or system instability.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity for Red Hat Enterprise Linux because exploitation requires local access to debugfs entries, which are restricted by default, and can result in kernel memory over-reads leading to a denial of service. The affected host1x subsystem is specific to NVIDIA Tegra hardware architectures, limiting exposure primarily to specialized embedded environments rather than typical enterprise deployments. Additionally, triggering the issue requires generating oversized debug output through debugfs interfaces, making accidental or reliable exploitation unlikely during standard operations.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
