Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel. In the riscv_acpi_add_prt_dep() function, the acpi_get_handle() call can fail, leading to the link_handle variable being uninitialized. This oversight could potentially lead to system instability or unexpected behavior.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having a Low impact because it is restricted to RISC-V architecture platforms utilizing ACPI firmware. Triggering the flaw requires specific or malformed ACPI table entries during hardware discovery, limiting any potential impact strictly to a local denial of service without compromising system confidentiality or integrity. Furthermore, mainstream architectures such as x86_64, aarch64, and s390x do not use this RISC-V specific code path, leaving typical Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments unaffected.
