Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's crypto: sa2ul module. This vulnerability occurs because the sa_ul_probe() function does not properly handle errors when the system fails to create a necessary Direct Memory Access (DMA) pool for security context buffers. If the pool creation fails, the system continues its setup process, leading to an unstable state. This could potentially result in a Denial of Service (DoS) condition, making the system unresponsive.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Low severity for Red Hat because it only affects systems running on specialized Texas Instruments hardware featuring the SA2UL cryptographic accelerator and requires an abnormal memory allocation failure during device initialization to trigger. Standard enterprise installations on mainstream architectures do not utilize this driver, greatly narrowing the overall attack surface. On affected platforms, exploitation requires local access and extreme resource exhaustion during probe time, limiting the failure impact strictly to local system denial of service.
