Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU driver (amdkfd). An integer underflow vulnerability during the calculation of the End of Pipe (EOP) ring buffer size can lead to improper hardware queue configuration. A local user could potentially exploit this issue to cause system instability, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having a Low impact because exploitation requires local system access on machines equipped with AMD graphics hardware and depends on queue configuration parameters that are rarely reachable under normal operating conditions. Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems are only affected when AMD GPU drivers are active and accessible to local unprivileged users. Even in environments with compatible AMD hardware, the practical constraints enforced by the driver on buffer allocations make triggering the underflow highly unlikely during typical operations.
